Africa InfoServ is an online information service and listserve with news, opinion and analysis. It features up-to-date reports on African events, issues and people, drawn from a variety of sources, including News From Africa, All Africa News Agency, IRIN, New People, SARDC, Inter-Press Service, Women's E-News and E-Africa as well as other news groups and individuals.

In addition to all of the articles posted online, readers may also subscribe to our free listserve—a convenient way to have some of the best articles emailed to you. To subscribe to one or more of the categories on the left, click on the Subscription Form. InfoServ subscribers (who currently number about 1,500) receive approximately three articles per month for each category they choose. Subscribers can also change their choices at any time.

Some InfoServ articles are longer and more analytical. They are marked with a magnifying glass icon () next to their titles. In general these articles are not mailed to subscribers, although if we believe they are especially good or important, subscribers will be notified of their presence on our website via email.

InfoServ also offers RSS feeds. You can subscribe to an all-categories RSS feed of the most recent postings or to one or more of our thematic RSS feeds.

The categories featured in Africa InfoServ were originally chosen following a subscriber poll in 2001. They reflect major geopolitical regions and topical challenges in Africa as well as our members' particular areas of interest and engagement. Since then, there have been a few changes, in response to conditions in Africa and to the dynamic agenda of our activist network. While several new categories have been opened, two categories have closed: “Africa’s Image: Contemporary Issues” and “Kenya”. (Note: all articles posted in these categories may still be found by doing a “Text Search” the Africa Archive—e.g. to search about “Kenya”, you can simply enter "Kenya" in the Text Search box. New articles on Kenya are now being posted in the Eastern Region category.)
